About Trip Data Kit

Trip Data Kit answers three questions a US traveller asks before a trip: how much mobile data will I use, which plug do I need, and which eSIM plan covers it.

What it is

A reference site built around one calculator. The calculator multiplies published per-hour data rates by the hours a day you spend on each activity and by the length of the trip. The country pages run the same arithmetic for a typical traveller so you can read the answer without filling in a form.

Where the numbers come from

Data-usage rates come from the help pages of the app makers (Netflix, Spotify, Zoom, Google) and US carriers (AT&T, Verizon, Consumer Cellular). Plug types, voltage and frequency come from two independent references, cross-checked against each other. eSIM prices are read from each provider's own country page on the date shown beside every price. Every figure on the site carries its source and the date it was read; the arithmetic is on the methodology page.

What it is not

Trip Data Kit does not sell plans, does not test phones, and has not used every plan it lists. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any carrier, app or eSIM provider named here. Some links are affiliate links; the disclosure page explains what that means and why it does not change the ranking.

Who runs it

Trip Data Kit is an independent site run from New Hampshire, United States, alongside a small group of similar reference tools. There is no editorial team to name; the byline on every page is the site itself, and the source behind each number is the authority, not the author.

Corrections

If a figure here does not match its source, or a price has moved, email hello@tripdatakit.com with the page and the figure. Corrections are made and noted on the methodology page.
